Tärnaby tourist Information. You will not find us associated with the local tourist office. Unfortunately , but understandably in a small town with a local population of circa 700 ( Tärnaby ) and 500 ( Hemavan ) and with a history of bankruptcy and struggling tourism , nepotism is rife. We are still considered new to the area. There is a local saying here that goes something like ; " You are only considered 'a local' if you have lived here for a minimum of 50 years ! " Due to this reason, we chose to discontinue our paid membership/subscription to " Tärnafjällens PR-Förening " , so they are even less likely to mention us now !  However,the staff at the tourist office are very helpful and knowledgeable and they will go out of their way to assist you with information about the area ..  They also seem to know who serves the best food in the area ... as they all like to dine in our café-restaurant !  Our reputation and referrals from previous guests speaks for itself as well as travel writers : Lonely Planet Sweden 2009-10 " Our Pick "  ...  " The most fun place to stay in town is this one .. run by  ....
